Anne-Elise Gray: Text
Anne-Elise Gray: Pro Gallery

Tapestry weaving is a slow meticulous art form that magnifies the fragility of time to the weaver. I use the traditional narrative value of tapestry to tell a modern story about our time in British Society.

Within my work I aim to compose images, colour and texture to reflect a place or issue. I am particularly interested in the decorative elements that reflect a country and its culture. In England, this has drawn me to looking at graffiti, and how this is used as a form of self-expression from tagging to street art. This is juxtaposed against the iconic floral designs of William Morris and my own sketches of nature.
